IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a method to access your email account from multiple devices while keeping your mailbox synchronized.

The best results are achieved with the Spark mail app, please consider using Spark mail for the best experience possible. Download Spark here: https://sparkmailapp.com/download

To log in using IMAP, you will need the following information:

  • Email Address: Your full email address (e.g., info@yourwebsite.nl)

  • Password: The password associated with your email account. If you forgot your password, click here.

  • POP/IMAP Server: mail.yourwebsite.nl

  • SMTP Server: mail.yourwebsite.nl

  • SMTP Port: 587

Follow these steps to log in using IMAP:

  1. Open Your Email Client: Launch your preferred email client software or app. This could be Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or any other email application you use.

  2. Add an Account: In your email client, find the option to add a new account. This might be labeled as "Add Account," "New Account," or something similar. Usually, you'll find this in the account settings or preferences section.

  3. Enter Your Information: Provide the following details in the respective fields:

    • Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in outgoing emails.

    • Email Address: Enter your full email address (e.g., yourname@thelakerestaurant.nl).

    • Password: Type in the password associated with your email account.

  4. Configure Server Settings:

    • Choose the account type as "IMAP" (not POP3).

    • Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): Enter "mail.thelakerestaurant.nl".

    • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): Enter "mail.thelakerestaurant.nl".

    • SMTP Port: Enter "587".

    • Encryption Method: Choose "STARTTLS" or "TLS" for a secure connection.

  5. Authentication: Make sure your email client is set to use "Password" or "Normal Password" for authentication.

  6. Test and Complete: Some email clients will allow you to test the configuration. If prompted, click the "Test" or "Verify" button. The client will attempt to connect to the server and verify your settings.

  7. Finalize Setup: If the test is successful, you'll receive a confirmation message. You can now proceed to complete the account setup. Typically, you'll be prompted to choose synchronization options, folder settings, and other preferences.

  8. Access Your Emails: Once setup is complete, your email client will start syncing your mailbox. You'll see your emails, folders, and other mailbox contents available in the client.

Congratulations! You've successfully logged in using IMAP. Now, you can access and manage your emails from this email client on your chosen device. Remember to keep your password secure and consider enabling two-factor authentication for added security.
